When you need a qualified mechanic

An hourly mechanic is needed for situations that don't fit neatly under a single service heading yet still require skilled diagnosis and repair. Typical examples include vague noises or sensations that can't be tied to one specific component, complex electrical faults, a pre-purchase inspection on a used car, or a broader refurbishment of an older vehicle before sale. Our service always begins with a careful conversation. The customer's description of the symptom guides the work significantly: when the symptom occurs, under what conditions, how often, and whether it's linked to other events. After that we carry out a physical inspection and, where needed, diagnostic testing, from which we draw up a repair plan. Hourly work is used when the scope of the fault is not known in advance. Pricing is fully transparent – we invoice for the hours actually worked, so there are no surprises. On longer jobs the customer is kept continuously informed of progress and any new findings. The end goal is always that the customer has a clear picture of what they paid for and the condition the car is in when it's handed back.

How the mechanic's work progresses

The job starts with a customer meeting in which symptoms and requests are walked through. The mechanic receives the vehicle and records all visible markings together with the odometer reading. If, for example, a pre-purchase inspection is requested, the checklist is broader and includes items such as a cold-start of the engine, testing of every function and a full underbody review. During the actual work the mechanic proceeds systematically and stays in contact with the customer by phone or email if the fault turns out to be larger than expected. Every decision (carry on with the current plan, replace a part or repair it) is made jointly with the customer, and the cost estimate is updated accordingly. When the work is finished the car is walked through with the customer: which jobs were done, which parts were replaced, what observations came up along the way and what may need attention in the future. Used parts can be taken away on request, and the invoice includes an itemised breakdown of hours worked and parts supplied. That way the customer knows exactly what they have paid for.
