When a blower needs replacing
The heater blower circulates air in the cabin and brings warm or cooled air via the heater core and air conditioning. The blower motor can fail from electrical faults, bearing wear or moisture exposure. Symptoms: no air at any speed, only one or two speeds work (resistor module fault), metallic or loud running noise, or intermittent operation. Fully failed, the blower provides no cabin air at all, making winter driving uncomfortable and unsafe (windows freeze).

Why do blowers fail?
The most common cause is bearing wear — the motor's copper brushes wear over time, and commutator contact weakens. Moisture is another common cause — if the car has been in a flooded area or the air conditioning leaks, water can reach the motor area and corrode electrical components. Cabin filter clogging forces the blower to work harder and shortens motor life.
