DPF Cleaning (Particulate Filter) in Vantaa

Don't pay for a new filter when the existing one can be rescued. Our mechanical clean strips out soot and ash and restores flow close to factory values.

Cleaning isn't an option if the element is physically damaged or melted — that's why every filter is endoscope-checked first.

When a DPF clean is worth doing

A diesel particulate filter clogs slowly with soot and ash. Soot burns off in regeneration, but ash stays in the filter permanently. Once enough ash has built up, the car can no longer clean the filter on its own — that's the moment a mechanical clean becomes the cheapest option. A clean is due when the DPF warning light is on, the car is in limp mode, fuel consumption has increased, you're getting 'regeneration not complete' alerts, or the emissions test fails at the MOT. It's smart to clean before backpressure rises so high that the turbo or engine starts to suffer.

How the DPF clean is done

Work starts with an endoscope check: we confirm the element is intact. A broken filter isn't worth cleaning. We then measure backpressure and flow to gauge how badly it's blocked. The filter comes out of the car and goes onto the cleaning machine. The machine pulses biodegradable cleaning chemistry, water and compressed air — ash is pushed back out in reverse flow, the same way it came in. After cleaning the filter is dried with hot air, refitted, and we run a forced regeneration. We measure flow again afterwards and hand the customer a report. A well-cleaned filter typically reaches 95–99 % of new-filter flow.

Why a DPF clean can fail

If there's an underlying engine fault — a leaking EGR cooler, a faulty differential pressure sensor, or a thermostat that isn't letting the engine warm up — the cleaned filter will re-clog fast. That's why we always check for root engine faults as part of the job. Volvo D-series, VAG 2.0 TDI and BMW diesels have known issues that are worth catching before the clean.
