Intake Manifold Cleaning in Vantaa
A blocked intake manifold strangles the engine — cleaning restores power.
Diesel and direct-injection petrol engines commonly suffer from intake manifold soot build-up.

Intake manifold cleaning
Price includes cleaning and testing. Dry cleaning uses walnut-shell media that doesn't damage the manifold's internal surface.

When an intake manifold needs cleaning
On modern diesel and direct-injection petrol engines, no fuel reaches the intake manifold to wash its internal surfaces clean. As a result, oil mist from crankcase breather and soot from the EGR valve build up inside the manifold as a sticky black layer. This restricts airflow and reduces engine performance. Symptoms of a blocked intake manifold: power loss especially at low rpm, rising fuel consumption, rough idle and possibly an engine warning with lambda or MAF codes. Cleaning is typically due around 100 000–150 000 km.
How an intake manifold is cleaned
The best method is dry walnut-shell cleaning: ground walnut shell media is blown at high pressure into the manifold. The media removes carbon deposits effectively without damaging the manifold's metal surface as sand would. The media is then vacuumed out with the same tool. This can be done without removing the manifold, so labour time is shorter. Chemical cleaning is performed on a removed manifold at the workshop. The manifold is soaked in a powerful cleaner for several hours and mechanical cleaning is done with brushes and solvents. After cleaning the manifold is refitted with a new gasket. During the test drive the diagnostic tool confirms MAF readings have returned to the normal range.

Why do intake manifolds get blocked?
Blockage is ultimately the combined effect of crankcase breather and the EGR system. Breather releases oil mist that sticks to the intake passage walls and collects exhaust soot along with it. An engine with an oil consumption problem (worn valve stem seals or piston rings) will foul its intake manifold many times faster. Regular oil changes and breather checks slow blockage. Fitting a catch-can filter to the breather line is a cost-effective way to extend clean intake for several additional years.
